GlassTomer™ Hermetic Sealing Technology
A Lightweight Alternative to Glass-to-Metal Seals
GlassTomer™ hermetic sealing technology is a proprietary solution developed and manufactured exclusively by Hermetron, engineered to deliver true hermetic sealing in demanding applications where traditional glass-sealed connectors fall short — especially when weight, material compatibility, or mechanical stress are limiting factors.
It achieves glass-level hermeticity — better than 1×10⁻⁸ cc He/sec — in a lightweight aluminum or stainless-steel package, with beryllium-copper contacts for high conductivity and durability.
When to Use GlassTomer™
GlassTomer™ is typically selected when traditional sealing methods reach their limits — particularly in lightweight, mechanically stressed, or vacuum-sensitive systems.
It is most often used when:
GlassTomer™ offers true hermetic sealing with mechanical compliance, making it ideal for complex and mission-critical assemblies in aerospace and defense applications.
How the GlassTomer™ Sealing Process Works
GlassTomer™’s performance advantages are directly tied to how the material is processed and cured — forming a compliant, vacuum-tight seal without the brittleness or material limitations of traditional rigid sealing methods.
The compound is cast and cured under controlled vacuum and thermal conditions, creating a continuous, gas-tight seal around internal conductors and interfaces. Unlike glass or ceramic seals, it maintains mechanical flexibility after curing, allowing it to absorb differential expansion and mechanical stress without compromising hermeticity.
